RIDESHARE
Rideshare is a digital platform that connects vehicle owners with insurance companies looking to provide temporary replacement cars for policyholders whose vehicles are under repair. The platform introduces a seamless bidding process, secure vehicle handover, and transparent payments to make short-term vehicle replacement fast, fair, and reliable.
Coming soon... 🚶🏽♂️
Insurance companies in Ghana and Kenya often struggle to offer replacement vehicles to policyholders after a claim. Meanwhile, many vehicle owners leave cars parked and unused. We identified a clear opportunity to connect these two groups through a shared-value ecosystem — but only if we could design:

A transparent bidding system for both parties

Real-time availability of vehicles

Secure processes to avoid fraud and disputes

An easy user experience for both vehicle owners and insurance adjusters
MY ROLE
As the Product Designer, I led the end-to-end design process:

UX research & user journey mapping

Wireframes and high-fidelity UI

Prototyping and interaction design

Collaborated with developers to ensure smooth handover

Created onboarding flows for two user types
Insurance companies in Ghana and Kenya often struggle to offer replacement vehicles to policyholders after a claim. Meanwhile, many vehicle owners leave cars parked and unused. We identified a clear opportunity to connect these two groups through a shared-value ecosystem — but only if we could design:

1
Vehicle owners needed assurance that their car would be protected and paid for.

2
Adjusters wanted to act quickly, with options shown clearly by region, cost, and condition.

3
Both parties demanded clear documentation and trust indicators during handovers.
KEY FEATURES

Bid-Based Matching
Adjusters post requests. Vehicle owners bid with pricing and availability. The platform highlights the most relevant matches using filters and sorting.

Handover Verification
Before and after photos are required. A digital checklist ensures both parties verify vehicle condition, avoiding disputes.

Secure Payments
Upfront partial payment (e.g., 50%) is made upon bid acceptance. Full payment is confirmed at the end of the rental period.

Vehicle Inventory Management
Vehicle owners can upload details and update availability in real time. Statuses like Pending, Collected, or Returned are clearly displayed.

Notifications & Messaging
In-app messaging and notifications allow fast communication during negotiation, collection, and return.
DESIGN APPROACH

Dual Dashboards

Vehicle Owners: View bids, manage car listings, track status and earnings.

Insurance Adjusters: Post requests, review submissions, assign vehicles, and manage payments.

Simple Flows, Fast Actions

Bidding, messaging, handovers, and support are all a few clicks away.

Each step includes clear CTAs and visual hierarchy for speed and clarity.

Mobile-First Layouts

Recognizing that many users access the platform via smartphones, all screens were optimized for smaller devices without sacrificing information access.
RESULTS
While the platform is currently under development, our user testing results were promising

90% of vehicle owners said they would list their cars.

100% of adjusters found the request-to-bid process intuitive and fast.

Estimated match time reduced from 3 days to 6 hours during prototype testing.

1
Designing trust-first systems (like photo-based handover and upfront payments) is crucial in shared-asset platforms.

2
Clear, role-specific dashboards improve user focus and task efficiency.

3
Visual hierarchy and progressive disclosure keep complex flows simple.
